Dedicated Home Cinema Installations - November 1st, 2008

Quite often we hear the term “dedicated” for a home cinema system. Dedicated home cinemas are rooms specially constructed solely for the purpose of viewing movies. A common challenge for a home cinema designer is to deliver a room so the client is able to enjoy films at reference levels, without disturbing everybody else in the property. Low frequencies tend to travel through walls and doors, so a lot of noise bleeds into the adjacent rooms.

A proper dedicated home cinema needs a room that is isolated from the rest of the structure, for minimal disturbance and maximum dynamic range. All our home cinema systems are designed by Dennis Erskine. Dennis has 20 years of experience in home cinema design, so our rooms are engineered to the highest specifications.

We will provide the client with an architectural drawing of the cinema’s floor plan, elevation, framing, etc. The home cinema’s design plans will include an acoustic analysis of reverberation times and room modes, along with sound isolation recommendations. We will specify the correct home cinema speakers and subwoofers, where to place them, and the proper seating locations.

VIP Cinemas carry an extensive range of home cinema seating ensuring a beautiful looking room, every time. The design and built of dedicated home cinema systems is our speciality, offering hi-end performance for the most discerning clients.
